to Guido Mazzoni (1440\/50-1518) nicknamed \u201cil Modanino\u201d,\nbut following recent restoration, it was recognized as an extraordinary example of an\nanonymous artist closely linked to the school of Mantegna, who certainly inspired its\ncomposition.<\/span><span striking\nrendering of the faces, in the great emphasis and pathos that characterize all the\nstatues, which takes Mantegna\u2019s dramatic structure to extremes.<\/span><span is in relation to this work that the people of Medole hand down a legend from\ngeneration to generation: at the end of the 18 th century, after the suppression of the\naforementioned convent, the Deposizione should have been moved to Castelgoffredo\nthe following morning, but it was stolen night-time by the inhabitants of Medole\nthemselves who, while carrying the statue on a cart, are supposed to have chipped the\nstatue of Christ\u2026..Hence, this traditional folk poem:<\/span><span
