Panizza-Pozzi palace, view<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The town of Medole is characterized by an urban tissue of remarkable interest on\naccount of the high number of stately homes, built between the 14 th and 19 th centuries.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Most of 17 th and 18 th -century residences present large marble access portals, which\nare actually recurrent motifs in this area.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

These voluptuous sculptures, made with\nBrescian marbles near at hand catch the eye as prominent elements on the fa\u00e7ades of\nthe buildings of the village and they had a distinctive role for the families who\ndisplayed their splendid coats of arms.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Scaratti-Minelli palace, access stairway<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Palazzo Scaratti-Minelli [Scaratti-Minelli Palace]<\/span><\/i>Original home of the Scaratti family, now belonging to the Parish of Medole, this\npalace was built at the end of the eighteenth century and reached its present structure\nthrough the merging of pre-existing buildings.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This austerely balanced complex overlooks the square: its characteristic elements\nstand out, the marble portal in ashlar masonry and the balcony as well as the\nmouldings of the openings on the main floor.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Inside, an imposing staircase connects\nthe variously decorated rooms.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Zappaglia Palace<\/span><\/i>- [Zappaglia Palace]\nThe current rectory and original fifteenth-century residence of Counts Zappaglia can\nbe found near the centre of the Zappaglia district. The building originally had a\nportico on the ground floor, visible now but closed to visitors, and a series of rooms\nstill showing precious sixteenth-century decorations. Emperor Charles V slept in this\npalace when he stayed in Medole, and, later on, Saint Carlo Borromeo on his pastoral\nvisit to the village.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Palazzo Ceni-Rigotto [Ceni-Rigotto Palace]<\/span><\/i>Residence of the De Mori Da Ceno family, this palace took its present form in the\nmid-1700s, when two sixteenth-century buildings were joined together. Its fa\u00e7ade is\nmainly Neoclassical, divided into panels decorated with pilasters, in the middle of\nwhich openings crowned with an impressive tympanum can be seen.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The novelist Ascanio De Mori Da Ceno, Tasso\u2019s friend and a governor employed by\nthe Gonzaga family, is remembered as one of the illustrious descendants of the Ceni\nnoble stock.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
